my client has asked to keep the same color and have another color added at the smile not too sure how to do this

i am thinking thin then down carve out just above the current color and drop the new color in and refill the cuticle area as normal the cap in clear??

am i close?

is this what ive heard called a trench fill??

So they want to keep the nail colour but change the French part?
I'm useless with thr drill, so if it was me, I'd thin the whole nail out and do reverse application. If that makes sense.
I'm yet to try actually cutting out a smile line. Im also confused by this too. Haha. Something to try when I get my new drill next week!
Let me know how it goes as I'm curious too!!

Yes Trace that will work fine, but I have a drill bit specific for this, its a 1/4 size barrel just for cutting a smile So if you dont have this bit, yes your theory will work, but then get the original colour that she wants to keep and fade that back a little over the new smile colour so theres no obvious fill there, get what I mean?

But it's easier if you do reverse cos then you just fill your cuticle area then cut out your new smile line with your drill on an angle to the nail so you don't take all the old colour off, then thin the old colour out abit add the new colour to the smile line and lightly feather it into the old colour and cap in clear.
