A question for Gettin Nailed / Mobile Techs

Postby SaharaLily » Wed Mar 10, 2010 8:33 am

Heya,

I have decided to go mobile.

I have a quick question, I pretty much have the basics down pat, but I am wondering if u could just let me know if there anything I should do/have for being mobile as opposed to being a home salon.

Many thanks!

basically you will need to take everything with you as you would have had set up at home

table
lamp
esky for the monomer
powders
files
drill
etc etc

i take mine in a tool box with wheels for the big jobs

for the smaller ones i take one of those scrapbooking trolleys thingys

try a few different options

and have a few practice runs on how long it will take you to set up and take down

good luch bekk

Thanks Jodie :)

I have to head to the shops soon so I am going to go into a few places and look at the srapbooking and tool trolleys.

My biggest concern is taking my wax mobile. I have already had 1 major spillage  Luckily it was on my way home!
Is there a mobile wax pot?

Also I know I need to update insurance etc..
Is there any other paperwork I will need to finalise before I head out? Other then the stuff I already had to do to work from home?

Sorry for all the questions, I would hate to get caught doing something wrong and not even know I needed it

I have also set up my iphone to be able to do POS and credit card payments.

first of all ensure you have a suitable case to carry both gel & acrylic along with towels, gel light ect.

this is a photo of my case. In the stand up part (top) I store my monomore, table protector, files, anti-bac, file santiser, hand moistures, towel (table & hand towels & Uv Lamp
In the 3 drawers I have, drawer 1 - glitters etc nail wipes, french polish, drawer 2, acrylic & gels & drawer 3, 3 boxes tip, (white clear natural) dental bibs, Brush Case, cotton balls, & bin bags.

I carry a small extra bag with me for the ladies that want polish.

I advise clients that I need a suitable table in a well vented area with plenty of light - and have not had a problem with clients coming to the party on this.
You just need to organise insurance as well as carry a display folder around with you for the msds sheets, & copy of qualifications etc.

I have never had to worry about eftpos etc as all my customers pay via cash or chq (after I know them).

Hope this info helps

In the 3 years I hve been doing mobile I have only had to use a small picnic table once. I have worked out that you can apply a set of nails on just about and flat surface. I have done a few sets on breakfast bars, and the client was not bothered & have even commented how adaptabe I can be. No I don't do waxing only lash/brow tinting/extention. with waxing you have to think about how you are going to keep the wax melted as well as storage of whilst traveling. Even thou my kit is on wheels it is still heavy to manovour up & down stairs etc. go on ebay (thats where I go mine from) and do a search for cases that may be suitable & upright.

Awesome, thanks so much for answering my questions!

I found a good case at bunnings, also there was one at Auto-Pro I am now just thinking about which one I would prefer lol

I thinking of putting mobile waxing off until I have sussed a proper way of being able to transport it safely.
It does take quite a little while for it cool back down once it has been heat up.

I know this doesn't help much.. But Caron have just bought out a new wax pot. The wax you buy comes in plastic? Inserts that can me microwaved for quick heat up then put into the wax pot to maintain heat. Good idea. But as for it being portable etc, I have no idea. Perhaps it could be transported in a small crate So it's kept upright without spillage?

That's an idea Anje!
At the moment I take my normal wax pot, takeout the insert and cover completely in foil. Although once the wax has been heated it's still runny for a little while so packing up and travelling can be a little messy if not careful.

I will look into the caron range. Thanks heaps!
